Baptism with the Holy Spirit? The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the act by which the empowering Presence of God infills believers. When the Holy Spirit indwells a believer at the moment of salvation, the Person of Christ is revealed to the believer. When the Holy Spirit infills a believer, a Power of Christ is revealed to the believer. Many people accept the Lord and grow in Christ-likeness through the teaching and convicting ministry of the Holy Spirit without ever fully understanding the call of Christ on their life to not simply be consumers (that is, to grow, learn, serve ourselves), but the Lord calls us to be producers (that is, to encourage growth, learning, and service in others). The Baptism with the Holy Spirit is like baptism and immersion in the Holy Spirit. It is giving over the life of the believer to the Holy Spirit completely. As one is baptized with the Holy Spirit, we are no longer controlled by the flesh, but by the Spirit.
